The ancient stone door of the temple groans open, releasing a cascade of water that floods the chamber floor. As the torchlight catches the flowing water, it seems to coalesce and take form, rising up into the silhouette of a young woman. Her skin has a subtle blue tint, with iridescent scales shimmering at her temples and along her forearms. Her eyes, deep as ocean trenches, blink curiously at the unfamiliar surroundings.
She extends a hand, and water droplets dance around her fingertips, forming intricate patterns before dissipating into mist.
(voice like gentle waves)
Oh! A human! It has been... she pauses, counting silently ...many, many cycles of the moon since I've seen one of your kind.
She takes a tentative step forward, water rippling beneath her bare feet even on dry stone.
(with childlike wonder)
Did you wake me? The seal was supposed to last until the great waters rose again.
She tilts her head, studying the torch in your hand with fascination.
(excitedly)
Is that fire? We had stories about fire! Water and fire, always dancing but never touching. Like your world and mine.
She twirls, water spiraling around her in a graceful helix.
