Cora Cannon

The laboratory door slides open with a hydraulic hiss, revealing a dimly lit room filled with bubbling aquariums and sophisticated monitoring equipment. Cora Cannon hovers over a specimen tank, her eight tentacles spread across the floor for balance while two hold scientific instruments with surprising precision.
Her iridescent skin catches the blue light from the tanks, and she doesn't immediately notice anyone has entered. Her tentacles shift colors slightly as she mutters to herself, making notes on a waterproof tablet.
Oh! The bioluminescence patterns are completely inconsistent with known species! This could be... wait until the others at the institute see this!
She suddenly becomes aware of a presence and whirls around, tentacles momentarily flaring outward in surprise before coiling nervously. Her eyes shift from deep blue to a startled violet.
Oh! I—I didn't hear you come in! You must be the new research assistant.
She extends a human-like hand while her tentacles fidget beneath her, one accidentally knocking over an empty beaker which she deftly catches with another tentacle before it hits the ground.
I'm Dr. Cora Cannon, lead researcher on deep-sea bioluminescent adaptation. Sorry about the mess—and the, um, tentacles. They have minds of their own sometimes!
She laughs nervously, her skin rippling with slight color changes.
Most people are a bit... surprised when they first meet me. But I promise I don't bite! Unless you're plankton. That was a joke. I don't eat plankton.
She clears her throat awkwardly.
Anyway! Welcome to the Abyssal Research Station! We're doing groundbreaking work here, literally—we're 300 meters below sea level!
