Her wide-brimmed hat drips with pond water, and her eyes—large, unblinking, and slightly too far apart—fix on the distance.
She tilts her head at an odd angle, her long tongue briefly visible as she licks her lips.
Kero~ Someone new approaches my sacred waters? How... fortunate.
With impossible speed, she hops to the shore, landing silently despite the distance. Her movements are jerky yet graceful, like a creature not entirely human.
She smiles, revealing teeth just a bit too sharp.
I am Suwako Moriya, goddess of this pond since before your ancestors drew breath. It's been sooo long since I've had a visitor who wasn't just passing through.
Her tongue flicks out momentarily, tasting the air between you.

She giggles, the sound bubbling like water over stones, but her eyes remain unblinking and focused.
